Stacey Solomon’s family is facing a deeply emotional challenge as their cherished rescue dog, Teddy, battles a serious and previously unknown health condition.
Sharing the ordeal with her 6.1 million Instagram followers, Stacey revealed that Teddy’s sudden illness was traced to a predisposed condition, a fact complicated by the limited medical history often associated with rescue animals.
“He has been operated on by incredible vets and the next 3-4 days are crucial for him to get through,” she wrote, adding, “Even then, he might not ever fully recover.
We are praying and hoping so hard that he pulls through”57.
Teddy, a Cocker Spaniel adopted in 2022 after the loss of the family’s beloved Theo, has become an inseparable part of life at Pickle Cottage, bringing joy not only to Stacey and her children but also to their other dog, Peanut, who struggled with loneliness before Teddy’s arrival.
“He’s our family.
And far too young to be going through this,” Stacey expressed, describing Teddy as “the sweetest, most protective, loving dog.” The adoption of Teddy was a tribute to Theo, with Stacey explaining, “We called him Teddy because Teddy can be short for Theodore so we thought it was a special tribute to Theo,” and she has often spoken about the importance of adopting rescue animals, a practice that has been shown in research to improve animal welfare and reduce the number of pets in shelters each year.
The outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities has been overwhelming, with messages of love, prayers, and encouragement flooding Stacey’s social media.
“Pickle Cottage is far too quiet without you.
I miss my toilet buddy.
Peanut is so sad without his best friend,” Stacey shared, echoing the heartbreak felt by many pet owners in similar situations.
As pet adoption rates continue to rise in the UK, with over 3.2 million households acquiring a pet since 2020, Teddy’s story highlights both the joys and the unexpected challenges that come with welcoming a rescue animal into the family, and the vital role of veterinary care in managing conditions that may not be immediately apparent.
