A limousine driver from Newport has been sentenced after causing significant injuries to a pedestrian in Cardiff city center last summer. Gary Allen, 63, pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to Keith Freeman, 69, by careless driving.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, on Dumfries Place, a busy road in the heart of Cardiff. According to South Wales Police, Mr. Freeman was crossing the road when he was struck by Allen’s black-and-white Ford Excursion limousine, which was heading towards the city center. The impact resulted in serious injuries to the pedestrian, who was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Allen, of The Moorings, Newport, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, where he was handed a 12-month driving ban. In addition to the ban, he was ordered to pay a total of £1,429, covering a fine, court costs, and a victim surcharge.
