A well-known restaurant in Abergavenny has suffered significant damage after a fire erupted on Friday evening.
Emergency responders were dispatched promptly to Fork and Fire on Brecon Road, close to Nevill Hall Hospital, following reports of the blaze.
Dramatic images shared on social media showed thick smoke billowing from the building as local residents looked on with concern.
Gwent Police issued a public advisory around 8:30 pm on April 18, urging nearby residents to keep their doors and windows closed while firefighters worked to contain the fire.
The restaurant, which opened its doors in 2023 and quickly became a fixture in the local dining scene, released a statement on social media addressing the situation.
They said: “As you may have seen by now, we are currently dealing with the restaurant on fire.
As much as we appreciate your concerns and your comments to the page and calling us, we ask that while we deal with this incident and make sure everyone is safe, that you refrain from posting and calling the restaurant.
To say we are devastated would be an understatement.
Thanks for your concerns and we will update you in due course.”
The full extent of the damage remains undetermined, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Fork and Fire had earned a loyal following in Abergavenny, known for its open-fire cooking style and a menu featuring barbecue and American cuisine, with a 3.5-star rating on TripAdvisor.
The restaurant offered a casual dining experience with options including gluten-free and vegan dishes, a full bar, and outdoor seating, making it popular among locals and visitors alike.
The incident has left the community eager for updates as emergency crews continue their work.
