Crimes at Welsh Churches Exceed 480 Since 2022, Alarming Data Reveals

New data obtained by the Countryside Alliance reveals a concerning trend: at least 487 crimes have been recorded at churches and places of worship in Wales between the start of 2022 and the end of 2024.

While this number is already significant, the Countryside Alliance emphasizes that the true figure is likely even higher. Dyfed Powys Police, one of the Welsh constabularies, did not respond to the Freedom of Information request, leaving a gap in the overall data.

The latest data from North Wales Police catalogs 184 reported crimes within the specified timeframe. These include 74 thefts, 100 instances of criminal damage, 10 cases involving violence, and 11 reports of arson. The Countryside Alliance released the data as part of its ongoing campaign to increase security funding for rural churches and draw attention to the issue.
