A 39-year-old man with a history of domestic violence has been sentenced to 32 weeks in jail for abusive behavior toward his partner. Ben Maddocks, previously of Ewloe and without a fixed address, appeared in Wrexham Magistrates Court on Monday, October 28, where he admitted to a public order offense related to the incident.
The abuse was reported in the early hours of Friday, October 25, when Maddocks’ partner called the police, alleging he had assaulted her during a taxi ride. She also reported that he had taken her phone and tablet and prevented her from accessing her phone by changing its PIN.
Officers promptly responded, visiting the address and arresting Maddocks after the victim disclosed further details and noted a history of abuse. The incident was deemed a breach of a previous suspended sentence order issued in June 2024. Consequently, Maddocks was charged with threatening behavior with intent to provoke violence.
District Inspector Iwan Jones commented, “We are resolute in our determination to pursue individuals who prey on society’s most vulnerable. This court result underscores the commitment of our officers and partner agencies in protecting and supporting victims of domestic violence.”
Operation Unite, an initiative by North Wales Police, remains active in addressing violence against women and girls.
