The Met Office has forecasted that Gwent could see temperatures surpassing those in Spain in the coming week. The start of the week is expected to be mostly fine, with sunny spells particularly in southern areas following the clearing of early morning mist and fog.
Northern parts of the region may experience more cloud cover, which could take longer to dissipate. There is a slight possibility that the warm and dry weather might extend across the country in the days ahead.
However, midweek is likely to bring more changeable conditions as cloud and rain from the northwest move southeast, leading to cooler temperatures. After this period, forecasts indicate an equal chance of either a return to predominantly fine and dry weather or continued unsettled conditions with a mix of rain and dry spells.
Detailed daily temperatures for Gwent are as follows:
- Monday: Low of 9°C at 1am, rising to a high of 20°C by 4pm, then falling to 13°C by 10pm.
- Tuesday: Starting at 12°C at 1am, peaking at 21°C at 4pm, and dropping to 14°C by 10pm.
- Wednesday: Temperatures begin at 12°C at 1am, reach 20°C by 4pm, and fall back to 14°C by 10pm.
- Thursday: Starting at 12°C at 1am, with a high of 19°C at 4pm, then cooling to 14°C by 10pm.
- Friday: Low of 10°C at 1am, rising to 21°C by 4pm, before dropping to 15°C by 10pm.
Residents are advised to enjoy the warm spells but remain prepared for possible changes in weather midweek.
