A serious collision involving three vehicles on the A541 near the Downing Arms Inn in Bodfari, Denbighshire, has resulted in seven people being hospitalized, North Wales Police confirmed early Thursday morning. The crash occurred at around 19:40 BST on Wednesday, prompting a large emergency response including air ambulances and multiple fire crews.
Three of the injured were airlifted to major trauma centers, while four others were transported by road to local hospitals. The conditions of those involved range from life-threatening to life-changing injuries, and all families have been informed. Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving as police continue their investigation.
Sergeant Daniel Rees of the Roads Crime Unit appealed for witnesses, stating: “I am appealing for witnesses to the collision, who have not provided their details to police, to come forward and also to anyone who may have seen, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of, a silver BMW 118 and a Silver Mercedes A200 travelling together in the area of Denbigh and Bodfari at around this time to contact police.”
He further urged the public: “I would also like to ask that people refrain from commenting on social media posts regarding this incident so as not to prejudice the criminal investigation and instead please contact us directly to pass any information.”
The A541 remains closed in both directions as emergency services work at the scene, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes. Anyone with information related to the collision is asked to contact police quoting event number C057641.
