A fatal crash at Cardiff Gate has left one driver dead, confirming that the individual was behind the wheel of a black Honda Accord. The collision took place on the eastbound exit lane at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 9. Authorities have yet to release details regarding the driver’s age or hometown.

South Wales Police have informed the deceased’s family and are providing them with support through specialist officers. The police are now appealing for information and are particularly eager to speak with a specific individual who may shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident. This person is believed to have been a passenger in the black Honda Accord during the night of January 8 into the early hours of January 9.

The eastbound slip road at junction 30 was closed for several hours but reopened around 3:49 p.m. after investigation work concluded. A spokesperson for South Wales Police stated, “Although the person pictured was not in the car when it crashed, officers believe that he will be able to help our investigation by providing clarity on the events of the evening of January 8 into the early hours of the morning of January 9.”
