Father Charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving After Son’s Fatal M6 Crash

Daniel Burba, 31, of Arnside Crescent, Morecambe, has been formally charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a tragic collision on the M6 that claimed the life of his 14-year-old son, Ryan Liam Morgan.

The incident occurred on April 20 when the Peugeot van carrying Ryan left the carriageway between junctions 34 and 33 southbound near University Hill and crashed into a tree, Lancashire Constabulary confirmed.

Ryan suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Burba, who was driving the vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but has since been discharged.

In addition to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving, he faces charges of causing death while driving unlicensed and uninsured.

Burba is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear at Lancaster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The police stated: “Our thoughts remain with Ryan’s loved ones at this difficult time. They are being supported by specially trained officers.”

No other vehicles were involved in the collision. Authorities have urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward, asking people to call 101 quoting log 503 of April 20.

Ryan’s family paid a heartfelt tribute to him, describing him as “our precious boy.” They added, “He truly is one like Ryan, a beautiful soul and so far from typical. Words can’t convey how much we loved him and how much we always will.”
