Woman fined £220 for TV licence breach in Garnant

Kylie Flint, 38, of Maesyrhendre in Garnant, Carmarthenshire, has been fined after being found guilty of using a television without a licence in a recent magistrates’ court hearing.

The case was heard at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on 10 September, where the court confirmed the offence under the Communications Act and ordered the defendant to pay the statutory penalty.

Flint was ordered to pay a fine of £220, plus £120 in court costs and an additional £88 surcharge, bringing the total financial liability to £428.

The ruling underscores the ongoing enforcement of television licence requirements across Wales, reminding households that operating a TV set without a valid licence remains a punishable offence.
