Bradley Barcola rejects Mo Salah pressure claims after £123m Liverpool transfer
Bradley Barcola says he is not under pressure to replace Mo Salah after his £123m move to Liverpool, insisting he is still improving.
Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola has addressed the immense pressure following his £123m transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, insisting he is not feeling the weight of expectations. Speaking in an exclusive interview, the French international acknowledged that his initial struggles at Anfield have drawn scrutiny, yet he remains confident in his long-term potential.
Barcola admitted that he is not yet at his peak performance level, stating: “No, I don’t think I’m at my best yet.” You still haven’t seen the best version of me. He explained that he and his team-mates are actively working to maximise his strengths, noting that “people are beginning to understand my style of play much better.”
Addressing the shadow of former star Mohamed Salah, Barcola paid tribute to the Egyptian’s legacy while clarifying his own mindset. “He’s a legend here.” A huge one,” he said.
“But it’s not pressure for me at all.” I’m not Mohamed Salah, so I’m going to try to contribute whatever I can to the club and make my own mark on its history.
The winger also reflected on his decision to leave PSG, where he won back-to-back European titles but often featured as a substitute. “For me, it was the right time to leave PSG,” he recalled. “When a club like Liverpool comes calling, it’s a great thing.”
I didn’t have any doubts and I just knew I had to come here.
