Brains beers return to Cardiff Arms Park as official ale partner
The partnership arrives as the club celebrates its 150th season, a milestone that the brewery says underscores a shared heritage stretching back to the 19th century.
Brains Brewery has signed a three‑year deal to become the official ale partner of Cardiff Rugby, marking the return of its beers to the bars of Cardiff Arms Park after an eight‑year absence.
The partnership arrives as the club celebrates its 150th season, a milestone that the brewery says underscores a shared heritage stretching back to the 19th century.
Supporters can expect Brains Barry Island IPA, SA Keg and the flagship Rev James to be on tap throughout the stadium, alongside a rotating selection of seasonal brews.
Brains last supplied draught at the iconic ground in 2016, when the club’s bar offerings were switched to a different brand.
Founded in 1882, Brains emerged just six years after the formation of Cardiff Rugby, cementing a link between two of the city’s most recognisable institutions.
Cardiff Rugby and Brains are woven into the fabric of Welsh culture, so to be returning to the home of Cardiff Rugby during its 150th anniversary year is incredibly special.
Brains is one of Wales’ most recognisable and respected brands, with deep roots in Cardiff and a longstanding connection to Welsh rugby. This partnership brings together two organisations with a shared history, shared values and a passion for representing our city.
It is even more special to be announcing this partnership at the start of our 150th season.
The deal follows a series of recent pouring partnerships for the brewer, including a return to the Principality Stadium and a new supply contract at Sophia Gardens, home of Glamorgan Cricket and Welsh Fire.
Brains also continues its involvement with the Green Man Festival in Glan Usk, providing the official beer for the second consecutive year.
Earlier this year the brewery opened the Old Brewery bar on the site of its former premises in the centre of Cardiff, a project developed in partnership with local pub company Breaking Brands.
The return to Arms Park is being welcomed by long‑time fans who recall the familiar taste of Brains on matchdays and see the move as a nod to the city’s brewing legacy.
Club officials say the partnership will enhance the matchday experience, with the brewery planning special promotions and community events tied to the three‑year agreement.
As Cardiff Rugby embarks on its sesquicentennial campaign, the renewed alliance with Brains promises to blend sport and brew in a way that celebrates Welsh culture for years to come.
